About The Alpine Inn

The Alpine Inn is a 95 year old piece of history on top of Grassy Mountain.  It was built in 1929 by Dallas Holifield and his wife Mary. They started with a souvenir/gas station and eventually evolved in what you see today.  The old gift shop still sits adjacent to the property today and can be seen on a short 30 yard walk from the lobby door.  A 12 room, three building Inn that clings to the side of the mountain providing the best views of the world famous Tablerock Mountain and the valley that is Turkey Cove. Our view is simply amazing.  The Inn sits directly on NC 226A also known as the Diamondback for those motorcycle and motorsports enthusiasts because it is 200 curves in 12 miles.  All the roads to Little Switzerland and our Inn are quite curvy so if you have a tendency to get motion sickness you might want to bring the Dramamine.  Our little treasure is also 3/4 of a mile from Little Switzerland and the Blue Ridge Parkway mile marker 334.  We sit at an elevation of 3,200 ft so the temperature for the majority of the summer never gets too hot or too cold.  Which makes for excellent sleeping temps when you open up your windows to the fresh mountain air.  All the rooms have a heating units if you get chilled and ceiling/portable fans to circulate the air.

(Parking)

Because our Inn is on the side of the mountain parking is limited but very adequate. It is first come first serve in terms of which spot is available. There are 5 prime spots directly in front of the Alpine and 3 spots directly across the street on the gravel area. There is also a paved lot under the street lamp that can hold 4-5 cars against the mountain that is about 30 yards from the Inn. Directly across the street from the paved area is another gravel space that can accommodate 3 vehicles. No trailers are allowed due to the allotted space.

MEET THE OWNERS

The Alpine Inn is owned by French Norsk Properties, LLC.  It is a small corporation that specializes in opening up small intimate lodging for all who want to veer from the large conglomerates to a more intimate setting.  We bring back the old-style (mom &pop) businesses to life with a bit of 21st century amenities sprinkled in.  They currently have one Inn, a boat rental business and glamping sites to share the great outdoors with their customer base. The 95 year old Alpine Inn is under continued renovation and will be completed during the off seasons over the next 10 years. They are excited to share the great outdoors in the Pisgah National Forest with you.
